What We Believe

We believe that God is a personal God, alive and active in the world today. We believe that He is carrying out the work of His will and purpose in the lives of believers today.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He died on the cross to provide the forgiveness of sin for all who will personally trust Him as their Savior. We believe that on the third day He rose again and is now seated at the right hand of God mediating on our behalf.

We believe the Holy Spirit of God is at work in the lives of believers as well as unbelievers to convict man of sin, righteousness and judgement. We believe the Spirit of God provides comfort and help to enable and empower each believer to live a victorious Christian Life.

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps 139.)

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe the Bible is God's Holy Word, complete and final. It is our source of authority relating to all areas of faith and practice. It is to be studied, read and shared.

We believe that no Christian can grow without the fellowship and encouragement from other believers. That the church is God's means for that communion. We as a church want to be involved in loving God, loving one-another and loving others. We are happily associated with the American Baptist Churches in the USA and enjoy our autonomy as well as the fellowship that is shared with other churches.

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Community Baptist Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Minister and Deacon Board are final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
