Pastor Gregory Saunders

 

Gregory Saunders, Senior Pastor of Community Baptist Church demonstrates a keen sense of awareness of people’s needs by preaching Jesus Christ. Modeling his ministry after his father’s advice: “Give them Jesus no matter the denomination,” his goal is to lead people to Christ and strengthen the local church. His sole purpose for becoming a member and officer of Norwalk Evangelicals in the late 80’s was simply to convey the Gospel.

In 2000, Gregory became Senior Pastor of Community Baptist Church of Norwalk, Connecticut. He first came to Community Baptist Church in 1998 as Interim Pastor and two years later was installed as the new Senior Pastor. Prior to that he was ordained by Kingsway Fellowship International 1994 and 2009 with Assemblies of God International, Previously served evangelist, an Assistant Pastor at Parkway Assemblies of God and interim the Hungarian Reform Church in south Norwalk.

Gregory is a native of Norwalk, Connecticut. As, the son of Marshall Saunders, a highly respected pastor of First Methodist Church in South Norwalk, Gregory spent his formative years at First Methodist. He attended Brien McMahon High School, class of 1971. After college he traveled cross country with his families singing group Rev and the MG’s in 1978; visiting seventeen churches and six different denominations. Though he was raised Methodist, he attended the College of Wooster, a small Presbyterian liberal arts college located in Ohio. From there, he has taught in Norwalk. He was teaching Science at his alma mater Brien McMahon High School. He also coached football and lacrosse from 1975 till 1994 until the Lord called him to ministry in 1991 after his father’s passing. Since then he has been pastoring and preaching the Word.

Along with being a Pastor he is a husband and father. He and his wife Annette have 6 children. Annette home schooled for 20 years and now teachers at Parkway Christian Academy.
